Newborn
FAQ
When should I schedule my Newborn session?
We recommend scheduling your newborn session when your baby is 8–12 days old, as this is the ideal window for those sleepy, curled-up poses. While we’re happy to accommodate babies of any age, the first two weeks of life are truly the sweet spot for newborn photography.
We also prefer to schedule your session in advance based on your due date so you and your photographer can stay in touch leading up to your baby’s arrival. We understand that babies don’t always arrive right on schedule, and if your little one comes early or later than expected, we’re always happy to adjust and reschedule as needed.
Is hair & makeup included?
Yes! Professional hair & makeup is included with every newborn + family studio session, ensuring you feel fully pampered and camera-ready for an elevated experience from start to finish.
Our artists are experienced working with clients of all ages, skin tones, and hair textures.
Is wardrobe included?
Yes! Every session includes access to our Newborn Wardrobe Collection as well as our Couture Gown Collection for mamas and our Little Miss Love Dress Collection for girls, offering beautifully curated wardrobe options designed to flatter a wide range of ages and body types while creating a cohesive, elegant look for your session.
How long is the Newborn session?
There’s no strict time limit for your newborn session — we structure the experience around you, not the clock. Every baby is different, and we always move at their pace, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and breaks as needed to keep them comfortable throughout the session.
If applicable, we begin with 2 hours of professional hair & makeup to ensure you feel fully prepared, relaxed, and camera-ready before your shoot begins. The photography portion typically runs about an hour per wardrobe change, but we never rush the process.
If you’re bringing additional children, we absolutely build in flexibility for snack breaks, naps, and little pauses as needed. Our sessions are designed to move at your family’s natural pace so everyone feels comfortable and cared for throughout the entire experience.
Can I include my partner & children?
Yes! We encourage you to include your partner and children in your newborn + family session. This experience is all about celebrating your growing family, and we love capturing those meaningful connections with everyone involved.
Can I include Grandparents?
Yes! We’re happy to include grandparents in both our studio and in-home newborn + family sessions. Grandma is also welcome to wear pieces from our Couture Gown Collection, allowing her to feel just as styled and included in the experience.
Can I include my fur babies?
Yes! You're welcome to include your pets in your newborn session. As long as your pets are comfortable around new people and well-behaved, they’re more than welcome to be part of your session. Dogs are generally easier to photograph than cats, but we’re always happy to do our best to include your furry family members in a beautiful and meaningful way.
Can you accommodate modest, cultural, or religious preferences?
Absolutely. We proudly photograph families from a wide variety of cultural, religious, and personal backgrounds, and we believe every client deserves to feel comfortable, respected, and authentically represented in their newborn portraits.
Whether you prefer more modest wardrobe styling, wear a hijab or other religious garments, have specific cultural traditions you’d like to incorporate, or simply have personal preferences regarding clothing and posing, our team will work closely with you to create an experience tailored to your needs.
Our goal is never to fit you into a predetermined style, but to create beautiful, meaningful portraits that reflect who you are and what matters most to your family.
Where is your studio located?
Our studio is located in the penthouse suite of one of the historic buildings in Downtown Los Angeles’ Theater District, offering a beautifully unique and iconic space for your newborn session.
Every setup is uniquely styled using our extensive collection of florals, fine fabrics, antique props, vintage carriages, elegant furniture, crystal chandeliers, and grand architectural windows. Our studio features a whimsical flower wall, custom bedroom sets, a seamless cyclorama wall, allowing us to create one-of-a-kind portraits tailored to your vision.
Do you offer In-Home Newborn sessions?
Yes! We are more than happy to shoot in the comfort of your home. We’ll bring our extensive Newborn Wardrobe Collection, Couture Gown Collection for mamas, and Little Miss Love Dress Collection for girls. We will bring florals, fabrics, vintage props, and unique backdrops directly to you, and everything we need to create a fully styled, elevated newborn experience in your own space.
Do you shoot outside?
Yes! Although newborn sessions are traditionally photographed indoors for baby’s comfort and safety, we’re happy to include outdoor looks as long as they are planned in advance.
What should I bring for my baby?
We provide everything needed for the session itself, including extra diapers, wipes, and a dedicated changing area. We fully respect all feeding choices and ensure a comfortable, supportive environment for you and your baby.
Bottle feeding is preferred as it can help keep the session moving smoothly, but if you are exclusively breastfeeding, we are more than happy to accommodate that as well.
We also recommend bringing the following items:
- Pacifier/binky/chupon/dummy
- Breast pump (if breastfeeding)
- Enough formula for the day (if not breastfeeding)
- Bottles
- Diapers & wipes
- Topical creams or medications if applicable
What should I bring for myself & my family?
We provide most everything you’ll need for your session, including access to our Newborn Wardrobe Collection, our Couture Gown Collection for mothers and our Little Miss Love Dress Collection for girls.
We recommend bringing any meaningful heirlooms, jewelry, or personal accessories you’d like to incorporate into your portraits. For Newborn + Family looks, please bring a nude strapless bra, matching nude underwear, and any photo-friendly shoes you’d like to wear.
For men and boys, we suggest bringing a variety of options including a suit or sport coat, white button-down shirts, fitted black or white t-shirts, and neutral pants such as jeans or khakis. Bringing a few different choices allows us to create a variety of looks throughout your session.
We also love when clients incorporate pieces that reflect their personal style. Whether it’s a statement dress you’ve been waiting for the perfect occasion to wear, a favorite jacket, a designer accessory, or a look that simply feels like you, these special pieces often become some of the most memorable portraits from the session.
Can you recreate my inspo photo?
Yes! We love when clients bring us inspiration photos! Whether it’s wardrobe, set design, posing, or a magical, dreamlike backdrop, we take those ideas and thoughtfully reimagine them into something unique and tailored specifically to you.
Will baby acne, jaundice, or peeling skin show in photos?
Common newborn skin conditions such as baby acne, jaundice, or peeling skin are completely normal and very common in the early days. There’s no need to worry—our talented editors are experienced in natural skin correction and will gently retouch images to ensure your baby looks soft, healthy, and beautifully natural while still keeping their authentic newborn features.
I’m feeling self-conscious about my postpartum body — will that affect how I look in photos?
No — you don’t need to be concerned at all! We use strategic posing, lighting, and angles throughout the newborn session to highlight you in the most flattering way while still keeping everything natural and authentic. In editing, we make subtle refinements (like smoothing & slimming) without changing how you look or removing what makes you you.
Being concerned about double chins, tummies, arms, thighs, skin issues and stretch marks is very normal, especially during pregnancy and postpartum. The goal isn’t to “hide” your body — it’s to show you as your most glamorous, confident self.
What if I had a C-Section?
First and foremost, you are a powerful, warrior goddess! We are here to take care of you every step of the way.
We understand how sensitive the healing process can be, especially in the weeks following birth. All poses are thoughtfully adjusted to ensure nothing puts strain on your incision, and your comfort is always our top priority throughout the newborn session.
If you’re taking any medication, please don’t forget to bring it with you so you can stay comfortable and supported during your time with us.
What if I don't feel comfortable in front of camera?
Most of our clients don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera at first, and very few have any modeling experience. From the moment your newborn session begins, we guide you through everything: posing, expression, posture, and movement in a way that feels natural and relaxed, not stiff or forced. We’ll show you exactly what to do, adjust you as needed, and direct you the entire time so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands or how to pose.
Our newborn sessions are designed to feel easy and supportive, and we take our time so you can warm up, build confidence, and actually enjoy the experience. By the end, most clients are surprised at how comfortable they feel — and how much they love the process as much as the final images!
What if my partner and children are camera shy?
We completely understand—not everyone loves being in front of the camera, and that's perfectly okay! In fact, many of our clients tell us their partner or children were hesitant before the newborn session.
Our photographers and assistants are experienced in working with family members of all ages and personalities. We provide gentle guidance and encouragement throughout the shoot, making the experience feel relaxed, natural, and fun rather than posed or stressful.
For little ones, we move at their pace and allow time for breaks, snacks, and getting comfortable in the space. We're playful and fun; whether it’s goofy voices, silly dances, or singing “Baby Shark” for the hundredth time, we’ll do whatever it takes to capture authentic smiles.
For partners who may be camera-shy, we focus on genuine interactions instead of stiff poses, helping them feel at ease. Before long, most families are surprised by how much they enjoy the experience—and the beautiful memories they create together.
What if my children don't sit still?
We completely understand that toddlers and young children can be unpredictable and have short attention spans—that’s all part of the fun! We never rush and always move at their pace, giving them time to become comfortable with us before stepping in front of the camera.
Our team is happy to sing silly songs, make funny noises, use puppets, play games, and do whatever it takes to capture genuine smiles and natural expressions. It’s truly all hands on deck, and we’re committed to creating a relaxed, enjoyable experience for the whole family.
Can I bring someone to help with my children?
Yes, of course! We will have our assistant there to support you in whatever way is needed throughout your newborn session. However, if you feel it would be helpful, you’re also welcome to bring a sister, nanny, grandparent, or friend to help make the experience even more comfortable for you and your family.
What happens if my baby arrives earlier or later than my due date?
We understand that babies don’t always arrive right on schedule, and if your little one comes early or later than expected, we’re always happy to adjust and reschedule as needed.
